1932 ALVIS Speed 20 SA Tourer by Cross and Ellis                                                                                       6 cylinder  4 Speed manual

British Racing Green with green leather.

This wonderful original bodied tourer was purchased in 2013 for the specific purpose of competing in the Vintage Cape Horn Rally. The car came with a huge history file documenting considerable restoration and maintenance carried out in recent years by leading specialists including Red Triangle and Earley Engineering. Despite this the owner sent the car to Brewster Mudie and set about a thorough programme of work to prepare for the rally. This attention to detail clearly paid off as it came in 12th overall and first in class.

Since that event the car has further extensive work to bring it back to tip top condition. This included a visit to Ashley & James Coachbuilding to prepare the body for a first class paint job by top craftsmen. The gearbox has been rebuilt and the car has been fitted with new weather gear.

The current owner has enjoyed touring in this car and completed a trouble free drive to South West France.

The history file is fascinating with chassis records and piles of invoices - some stretching back to the early 60's. We have an good deal of information of previous owners many of whom were Alvis Owners Club  members and some of whom were recorded in an old buff log book from the late fifties.  Careful examination of this file will demonstrate that this is a car that has been well loved, properly restored and carefully maintained with no concern for costs just a determination to achieve a standard in keeping with those of The Alvis Car and Engineering Co. Ltd who built it 91 years ago.

In all a superb example in fabulous condition and a tremendous car to drive.
